The Blind Detective

by Christina Koning

Frederick Rowlands lost his sight through injury on the battle fields of the First World War. In 1927 he has a job working a switchboard at a firm of lawyers. Some conversation he overhears prompts him to ask questions. The London setting is presented through the senses of a blind man – sound, smell, taste and feel. Never read a book presented in this way. Fascinating. Then layer on top the moral conundrum Rowlands faces when he starts piecing together the clues he’s gathering – he identifies the culprit but should he reveal?

I will be appearing with Christina at CrimeFest (CrimeFest - Bristol's Annual Crime Fiction Convention) on Friday 16th May 2025 at 2.50pm on a panel entitled: One of A Kind: Atypical Characters
